Zanzibar Government is committed with Ports improvement

The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar started its efforts to improve the services provided by Zanzibar Ports. Speaking with media, the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi said that, the Malindi Ports is facing the challenge of limited space and having only one dock, so it is overwhelmed and fails to provide the services as per the needs of its stakeholders.

New equipment has been purchased by the government including cranes and richdeggers so as to speed up the pace of container handlings within Malindi Ports and at the same time building another Container yard at MpigaDuri and Bwawani area.

Dr. Mwinyi Mwinyi added that, those are immediate actions while the major solution of constructing new multipurpose ports at Mangapwani One Kilometre Port. Even the New generation Ship will start to dock in Zanzibar.

The President stresses that the government is fully aware the important of Zanzibar Ports for the Zanzibar economy that is why it is doing its level best to rid the existing challenges and improve the services and operations provided by the Zanzibar Ports Corporation (ZPC).
